There of course are different types of printers that have been invented over the last 30 years, and there are many different models of each type that are built every year. Though the specifications and features vary, specific types are designed for relatively specific consumers, or genres of consumers. For instance, a laser printer is intended mainly for medium to large offices that require fast speeds and professional accuracy with standard text documents. The speed of laser printers can range from as little as 10 pages per minute all the way up to 40 pages per minute. Depending on the volume of business and printing tasks, consumers must choose the printer that is most suitable. These machines have been around for a couple decades, frequently upgrading and finding new ways to increase the productivity of offices. Efficiency is one of the most important characteristics of an office, and a solid laser printer will improve that.
It was in 1969 that Xerox invented the first laser printer, and every year since then, the prototype has been enhanced and technologically improved. Other companies joined Xerox in the manufacturing of this type of machine, such as HP, Dell, Samsung and Konica-Minolta. All of these manufacturers are popular and make laser printers that are found all over the world in offices and some homes.
Usually, inkjet printers are the kind that most people prefer to keep as a personal printer. Maintenance is more affordable and the quality is much better. They are certainly not as fast as laser printers, but most home users are only looking to print occasional documents and perhaps some pictures from the digital camera- which in that case, quality would be much more important that quantity.
