Don’t eat paper
Despite the type of printer that you choose to have, the real test comes with the variety of paper that is compatible with your machine. There are some units that are designed strictly for standard text document printing. They belong in a home office or a library or a computer lab at school where people just print papers and excerpts from books. But what about the users that want to print lab-quality photos or party invitations or greeting cards? Those machines do exist. There is your obvious photo paper, which has the texture as pictures that come from photo labs. Depending on the settings you select, your images can have borders or not. Be sure to put the photo paper in the correct way or all of the images will print on the wrong side of the paper. Some people may not realize that you can actually print on envelopes with most printers. This will allow users to make personalized envelopes, which is just an extra cool touch to any mail you are sending. Even greeting cards can be made right from home.
Another cool thing that many modern machines offer is the ability to print on iron-on transfers. These are used for making your own clothing or fabric items at home. Epson offers something a bit different with paper that is specifically made for scrapbooking purposes. The photo paper will be for images to be printed while the Matte paper would be used more for headlines, clip art and potential borders. This feature leaves it up to the user to be creative, but provides all the tools that person might need. The different media types are what make current printers so exciting, and what separates the men from the boys.
